I was wondering if getting multiple insurance quotes can significantly lower your FICO score due to inquiries..especially if you have a limited credit history..
I just turned 25 and I’m tired of getting hosed on my premiums. I want to start shopping around but I know that the insurance companies check your credit score. What’s the best way to go about getting quotes?

Last year, I contacted a few insurance companies to obtain quotes on home and auto insurance. I then selected one company. I guess everybody does this once in a while.
I recently received a letter from one of the companies. The letter says that they could not provide me with a quote or coverage because of the information they obtained from ChoicePoint Insurance Consumer Center. They actually did provide me with a quote but I ignored it. They stated further that I could obtain a free copy of my consumer report under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
I understand that one can obtain a credit report if applications for a credit card / loan were denied. I wonder if anyone has had similar experience and if this consumer report is another way of gathering people’s information.

I’m trying to get auto and renter’s insurance and I do not understand why my credit score is brought down because of this. Can’t they tell I’m not our trying to get several credit cards or lines of credit or loans? How can this be dealt with and changed or stopped? If this is going to happen, how will my credit look in two years when I am ready to buy a newer vehicle?

Im doing a project for school and I need to be able to enter in different attributes of an individual to determine how it would effect the insurance premium (I need dollar amounts). I need this for both home and auto insurance. Every site that I found requires your SSN and an accurate name so they can pull your credit report. Isnt there a site that does a general estimate of premiums?
I’ve heard that everytime you apply for a credit card, get insurance quotes, etc. your credit score gets lowered.
I am planning to buy a used car. So I began checking the insurance quotes online. I gave my personal information like Social etc. Now when I checked my credit file there are inquiries made by some insurance companies. Now my doubt is, will these effect my credit score. I am lot worried because, I have checked too many insurance quotes for the last one week. I doubt it will make my credit score fall. Please help if there is a way to rectify this.
